Melissa Rivers Reads Condolences From the President; 'Fashion Police' to Go On Sans Joan-Elizabeth Durand Streisand

It's fitting that Melissa Rivers's first public appearance since the sudden passing of her mother, Joan Rivers, was on Fashion Police, the show fueled by the late comedian's edgy sense of humor. Perched on a chair alongside co-hosts Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, and George Kotsiopoulos, Melissa looked remarkably polished and poised during the taping of the Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan special, which airs Friday night."She affected so many people, and people you would never expect to have humor," Melissa, who serves as an executive producer of the show, mused of her late mother, who died Sept. 4. Like whom, you might ask? Oh, just the leader of the free world, for one.
"I received a letter from the White House, from President Obama," Melissa revealed. "Someone who was often a target of her jokes, as was Mrs. Obama, but I received a handwritten note saying, 'Not only did she make us laugh; she made us think.'"

Now that Joan is gone, however, execs are being forced to think about the future of the show she helped make a hit.
"They are looking at different scenarios, whether it moves forward or it doesn't," Rancic told ABC News. "A lot of that will be up to [Melissa] and how she's feeling and how she decides what she wants to do, along with the execs here at E!." That said, it sounds like they haven't made any decisions just yet. "They are seeing what Fashion Police looks like without Joan," she added.
Even Rancic isn't sure how she feels about continuing on without the comedian extraordinaire.
"A part of me is like, Joan would want Melissa and us and the team to go on and I know she would," Rancic mused before adding, "But it's just a matter of can there be a show without Joan? Do we want to do a Fashion Police without Joan? I don't know."

We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for the red carpet snarkfest, but one thing is certain: No matter what the execs decide to do, Fashion Police will never look the same.

Smartphone launch proves a veritable sausage party

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus finally go on sale around the world today and outside Apple's Covent Garden store in London there is already a colossal queue, albeit one with a pretty skewed gender ratio.

I've been staring at this image taken by passer-by Will Perrin for about 15 minutes now, and I still can't find a female anywhere in the snaking queue.
I guess there is somewhere, just not visible from that particular viewpoint, but one thing is for certain: Apple is absolutely nailing the 'guy wearing inoffensive navy t-shirt and wrist watch' demographic.
Early reports suggest demand is particularly high for the larger of Apple's two new devices, the iPhone 6 Plus, seen as the company's first foray into the "phablet" (shudder) market.
The latest iteration of the prized smartphone comes after iOS 8 was released earlier in the week, a new operating system already proving more popular than God.

Known for their curvy figures, the two artists jiggle their famous derrieres up against each other in the raunchy clip.

But then it was back to black for Lopez, who grooved seductively in a fishnet combo.

Kim Kardashian has revealed that she and husband Kanye West are working on having a second child.
"I hope so. We're trying," Kim, 33, said during an interview with Australia's "Today" show on Wednesday. "I guess it's all in God's hands."

The reality star and her rapper husband, 37, welcomed daughter North in June 2013 – something that has had profound effect on Kim's lifestyle.
"I think [motherhood] has changed me so much," Kim said. "Everything's put into perspective and nothing really matters besides spending time with your family and only doing the things that are really important to you."
Earlier this month, the star opened up about whether she wanted a big family or not during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."'

"I'll go for two, but then again I have so many siblings and I love it, they're my best friends and I would love that for my kids. So I'm going to do two and see how it goes. I don't think [I'd have] six, but maybe three or four — I go back and forth," she said at the time.

There's no question Kerry Washington has become a red carpet icon over the past few years, so it should come as no surprise that she's been setting enviable trends. Her latest one — the purple purse — may just take the cake though. After all, it represents an important cause.

After carrying deep purple Prada clutches at both the 2014 Emmys and 2014 NAACP Image Awards, the Scandal star, 37, has been spotted throughout New York City this week carrying an amethyst-hued bag she designed for Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse program to raise awareness for domestic violence and financial abuse.

"One in four women will be a victim of domestic violence," Kerry says in a PSA for the organization. "Finances are almost always a weapon of choice. Taking away access to cash, destroying credit, jeopardizing jobs; financial abuse leaves invisible bruises that can take decades to heal."

In a behind-the-scenes video from the campaign shoot, Kerry explains why the Purple Purse initiative is so important. "I consider myself to be well versed in issues around women and violence against women so I was pretty shocked that I didn't know how prevalent financial abuse is. I just thought, if I don't have this information, I know there are so many other people that don't have this information," she said. "I want to be a part of spreading the message because it's such an important tool to help women get out of threatening situations."

So why the color purple? “Purple is the color for domestic violence awareness,” she explained. “And a purse is where a woman’s power lives.”

Spreading a message and looking fabulous? Now that's something we can really get behind.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha Gives Nkiru Sylvanus A New Appointment

Nollywood actress Nkiru Sylvanus appears to have gotten a new appointment in Imo state government. This is because, Imo Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has disclosed plans to set up a befitting Film Academy in Owerri. The governor appointed actress Nkiru Sylvanus as the Ag. Director General of the Academy to do oversight functions of ensuring judicious use of finance and other logistics.
Okorocha disclosed this to members of the Imo Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Owerri.
Okorocha equally announced the provision of office accommodation for Imo AGN at the ICAPS premises, Owerri and assured them of the quick commencement of the Film Academy.
Recall that Ms Sylvanus was the Special Assistant on Lagos Matters, appointment which she lost when governor Okorocha dissolved his cabinet last year.
