REGINA ASKIA SLAMS POLITICIANS

 1

Everywhere I turn, there is an ANTI JOHNATHAN campaign, I am tired of all the talk. The "modus operandi" is that each faction will curse the other side out not because they have a better agenda BUT as a camouflage to get to the coffers after which its the usual business of the day "CHOP N QUENCH" Where is the better alternative, Is there no NIGERIAN that can come up with a BLUE PRINT of how we can REVERSE THE ROT!! A parallel action plan to negate the nonsense? Where are the geniuses in the diaspora? Give us a workable health care strategy, educational strategy, the bankers (Iweala , Sanusi , etc....) - come up with a workable financial system for Nigeria. Is there not one Nigerian with the spirit of a Jerry Rawlings? Im not advocating that anyone be shot but they must account for the petro dollars that does not seem to be reaching the masses. WHEN IS ENOUGH GOING TO REALLY BE ENOUGH? I will not sit in the comfort of arm chair and the relative safety of my commune and charge Nigerians to carry placards God knows they have tried. However if we had a clear direction we all could start an "ARMCHAIR REVOLUTION". What if we refuse to cooperate? What if we in every state demanded schools be built, health care services be provided, security of life and property be guaranteed, pensions be paid before any government employee can go to work? What if we demanded for a tribunal to arrest the conspirators and sponsors of Boko Haram? (Festus Kenyamo), and the girls returned before business as usual. There is no political party that is talking about trying all corrupt officials and recovering loot. Whipping the masses into shape with war against indiscipline is nonsense when the real thieves are bagging the loot with no apologies......No political party has stated and started working on - in clear terms what they want to do for the people. Political leanings don't really count at this point it is what each leader has brought to the table. Look at APC's Governor Abiola Abiola adeyemi Ajimobi and all what he has done for Oyo state and look at PDPs Governor Godswill Akpabio and what he has done for AKS (we can argue about numbers , how much did he get from oil derivative and how he could have done more but facts speak for themselves). I personally would like to see all former heads of State give account and restitution of what was done and what was lost in their tenure.
I thank those Nigerians in the diaspora, who have sojourned to the homeland to build schools, run medical missions and care for the widows. Organizations like African Views.org (where I am honored to be director) has provided small loans to market women, distributed eye glasses to children who needed them, supported schools, plans on job training and job placement . Efforts like ours should be encouraged and sustained. More Nigerians in diaspora should do same. I shall be waiting to read suggestions of a way forward for Nigeria and of course feel free to vent.
Cheers.
