There's a reason why George Clooney is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. The Oscar-winning actor and his now wife Amal Alamuddin tried to make their wedding weekend special not just for themselves, but for their family and close friends who flew in. Us Weekly
can exclusively reveal that guests in attendance received a special
gift from the happy couple and had a ball during the private reception.
The bag of goodies included a wedding weekend itinerary, suggestions for what to do, and yes, rules for the big day.
Friday, famous pals like Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Matt Damon celebrated
the lovebirds at Cipriani hotel. Guests had the option to feast at the
residence or in town, and were notified that drinks and piano
entertainment would be available around the Cipriani pool well into the
evening. If not, they could entertain themselves with the iPod and
speaker they each received in their rooms. The bride and groom created a
personal playlist for a special touch. (As previously reported, the
pair also celebrated with separate bachelor and bachelorette parties.)
After the pre-wedding
celebrations, Clooney and his British lawyer love finally said "I do,"
and received a big round of cheers around 8:45 p.m. Guests then feasted
on lobster, lemon risotto, and fried polenta with mushrooms, and danced
to hits from bands like Blondie, Jackson 5, Amy Winehouse, and Daft
Punk.
Everyone was given a code for
their phones for security purposes, and were asked to leave their
personal devices back in their hotel rooms. Cameras were supplied at the
reception, which lasted well into the early morning. (Good thing Sunday
brunch begins at 2 p.m. back at Cipriani!)
Before heading home Sunday, guests will congratulate the newlyweds
once more at a late dinner at the Granaries of the Republic. They won't
be packing up just their fancy attire from the night before, however.
Clooney and Alamuddin gifted everyone with a framed picture of
themselves.
"We're both so glad you're here.
You've come a long way so we'll make it worth the trip," a letter from
the couple read. "Thanks for being here. It means the world to us."
